Exercising For Arthritis In The Knee

Exercise is a wonderful thing for people of all ages to be involved in. Being active helps to keep us young. And, when it comes to arthritis, it also helps to delay its onset. That’s because one of the best things that exercise does for us is to help us control our weight.

Certainly, exercise can be wonderful as a way to lose weight well enough to make a difference for your arthritis in the knee. Physical activity can be one of the best arthritis remedies there is. Even if you are so old that all you can do is walk around your apartment. And, no matter how old you are, there is usually some sort of exercise that you can do.

So, unless you’re forcing yourself to run miles every day right over the pain – which you should definitely not do – there is no reason for you to cut down on the kind of exercise you get. Exercise makes you better able to stand pain and in most cases it actually lessens the pain because it loosens up the joints and – for lack of a better word – helps to lubricate them.

If you do have arthritis, however, before you embark on an exercise program, talk to your doctor to ensure that the type of exercises you are planning will not make it worse.
